Sick again

So, I'm sick again.  It's been 2 months since my last cold so I guess I'm doing good.

I am now taking Zicam dissolvable tablets and trying to eat lots of garlic.

The Zicam is nasty...it's lemon-lime flavor!  And I love fresh garlic...I am really going to have to try to add it into my diet even when I'm not sick!

Wish me luck on getting better everyone :)

Perception

One of the higher up bosses at my work came and spoke to me this morning.  We spoke about many things, but one thing she mentioned was my "bad attitude".  Her main example was something that happened last Wednesday.

Now, I have a fairly accurate self-perception.  I know I can have a bad attitude, and I know how I act when I have it.  I get a look on my face, I sometimes roll my eyes, and I get an edge to my voice.

During the Wednesday incident, I actually spoke to her like I wasn't bothered at all.  I said it wasn't a big deal, I smiled, etc.  In her mind, she heard a negative tone and saw me head-bob (I don't know how to describe the way some people move their head while having an attitude.  I have issues with movement so I know I don't do this lol)

I kind of feel like she has seen me have an attitude before (as I said, I know I have an attitude at times), and so she assumes I am always having an attitude, even when I am smiling and being nice.  I also don't know where she got the impression that I do a head bob, since it is something I don't do.

So my question to everyone is this:

Is there anything I can do to change her perception of me?  I don't know how to change actions I don't even do, so I'm kind of at a loss here.

Thanks!!!

RIP Argus

With a heavy heart, I share with all of you that we had to put down our dog, Argus, last night.  He lived almost 16 years, which is amazing for a dog his size.

Things seemed fine, and then after his morning medicine Friday morning he laid down, never to get up again.  We brought him to the emergency hospital last night, hoping they could do something.  But the really super nice vet just didn't seem to have any good news.

Sadly, we decided it would be cruel to Argus to keep him alive.  They brought him in to let us say goodbye and he wasn't even responsive to us.

We took the below pictures just 3 weeks ago at my mom's birthday party...he really had been fine!!!!

RIP Argus...you were amazing!!!!!!

Woot Off

Okay, I am determined to get a bag of crap this woot-off!!!!!  For those who don't know, woot is a site that sells items for cheap.  That is my super simple explanation.

The bags of crap have random junk in them, but during the last woot-off my friend got an iPod!

Wish me luck :)

Quotable Sunday - #15

Toni at A Daily Dose of Toni hosts Quotable Sunday each week. This week I have decided to do quotes on Winter because I am tired of this 75 degree weather!!!

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.
-Anne Bradstreet

Winter is nature's way of saying, "Up yours."
-Robert Byrne

To shorten winter, borrow some money due in spring.
-W.J. Vogel

One kind word can warm three winter months.
-Japanese proverb

I like these cold, gray winter days.  Days like these let you savor a bad mood.
-Bill Watterson

Winter is the season in which people try to keep the house as warm as it was in the summer, when they complained about the heat.

Sooo tired

Last night I went to see a local high school's performance of Dracula...and it started at 9:30 pm!!  The play was good, the kids were cute, I had never seen, read, etc Dracula.

But...this morning, I had to wake up at 6:45 (and I didn't go to bed til after 1) and now tonight I am exhausted!!!!!!

Does anyone have any tips on staying awake until a normal hour after not enough sleep?  I don't drink energy drinks and don't enjoy coffee or soda.

Thanks :)

Easy Peanut Butter Blossoms

For my mom's party a few weekends ago, I cheated on the peanut butter blossoms I made for her.  I used Betty Crocker Peanut Butter cookie mix and a recipe from their site to make them.  Click here for the recipe.

Here is a pic of my cookies :)

SB Axxess #4 - Downtown Brewing Co

Wow, restaurant #4 already!  We need to cook more lol  In case anyone doesn't know, I am trying to get more than 6 hole-punches in my Santa Barbara Axxess card this year.  Last night, we revisited the Downtown Brewing Co (inappropriately named...it is uptown).  The Axxess deal was buy one an entree and appetizer, get an entree free.  We saved $8.

The Downtown Brewing Co has all the typical food that Brewing Cos have such as soups, salads, pizzas, steaks, burgers, sandwiches and more.  Our appetizer was Artichoke Spinach Dip.  Our entrees were a Brew Burger (just a regular burger) and coleslaw, a turkey burger and salad, a flat iron steak with sweet potato fries and a chicken caesar wrap with salad.

The food was good, but not necessarily outstanding.  The Brew Burger was fairly plain and the coleslaw needed more dressing.  The green salads were mostly spinach, which they should probably say on the menu (I wouldn't have ordered a mostly spinach salad).  The steak was good but small.  The chicken caesar wrap either didn't have enough caesar dressing or had none.

This restaurant is good and fairly priced, but not exceptional.

I want to be clear that I bought the Axxess Book on my own and went to the restaurant on my own.  I received nothing from any mentioned company.

Upcoming Events at Whole Foods Santa Barbara

I received an email about some upcoming events at Whole Foods in Santa Barbara and wanted to pass along the info:

This Friday, November 13th, KCOY TV 12 and the Santa Barbara Foodbank will host their annual Turkey Drive at Whole Foods Market. People are encouraged to drop off a  frozen turkey at the drive to help feed hungry Santa Barbara residents this holiday season. We’d love if you could help us get the word out about this important cause.

For my readers who are busy planning their Thanksgiving meal, we are hosting a FREE tasting event this Saturday, November 14th from Noon-3pm.  As your one stop shop this holiday season, they'd love to have you  stop by to taste some of their Thanksgiving offerings, like Mary's Free-Range Boneless Turkey Breast, traditional stuffing, traditional gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, creamed corn and creamed spinach.

Whole Foods is really excited to help the Santa Barbara community fight hunger and feed their families this Thanksgiving.

P.S.  I went shopping there last night and OMG, I could easily buy up the whole store!

SB Axxess #3 - Silvergreens Isla Vista

Woohoo, restaurant #3!  Just to remind everyone, I am trying to get more than 6 hole-punches in my Santa Barbara Axxess card this year.  Last night, we decided to go with a trusted favorite, Silvergreens in Isla Vista.  The Axxess deal was buy one, get one half-off.  We saved $4.

Silvergreens has soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pastas, a few other entrees (like chicken strips) and desserts.  All 3 of us ordered their Broccoli soup - it's one of our favorites!  2 of us ordered the Thanksgiving Turkey Sandwich (like a regular turkey sandwich but with cranberry sauce and cream cheese).  1 of us ordered the BBQ Chicken Chop Salad (a yummy salad with ranch and bbq sauce).

We were all very happy with the food. This really is one of our go-to places to eat!!!!

This is a restaurant I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a quick, healthy bite to eat.

(This is what the outside of the restaurant looks like)

I also want to be clear that I bought the Axxess Book on my own and went to the restaurant on my own.  I received nothing from any mentioned company.
