Ruby Tuesday #1

This is my first time trying out the Ruby Tuesday meme. It is hosted by Work Of The Poet. All you have to do is post a picture with red.

I had to look around my house for something red...and I noticed the area where my dog's stuff is...is almost all red!

This is my first time trying out the Mellow Yellow Monday meme. All you have to do is post a picture you have rights to with a lot or a little yellow.

Friday - Chicken Enchiladas
Saturday - Barbecue for lunch at my cousin's house for his birthday..we will probably have a light dinner (sandwiches or something) after having such a huge lunch
Sunday - Pepperoni Pizza Casserole (using turkey pepperoni)

Aloha Friday #15

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. Thanks to Kailani at An Island Life for starting this fun for Friday. I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog . Please be sure to head over to her blog to say hello and sign the Mr. Linky there if you are participating.

My question is:

Do you pay for car washes or wash your car yourself? If you do pay, how much does it cost?

I just paid $17 and my car still has some dirt and ash left on it. I'm not thrilled!

Thursday Thunks - stupid questions that you love to answer

This is my first time participating in the Thursday Thunks meme. Hope everyone enjoys my answers!

1. Your thoughts on hunting? I think hunting to eat what you hunt is perfectly fine. I don't care if people hunt for the other reason, but I don't want to hear about it!

2. Swine Flu vaccine... will you get it? I got a flu vaccine for the first time last year and will probably stick to that.

3. What is one job/profession that you think there are just too many of? Useless leaders.

4. I want to go on a diet, what advice will you offer me? Portion control is easier than cutting stuff out completely.

5. You are going out on a date with someone for the very first time. When you get into their car, you see a box of condoms on the floor. What do you do? I only know what you don't do...get physical with them in any way!

6. Name something in your bathroom that shouldn't be there. The lysol wipes...they belong with all of the other cleaning supplies.

7. What was your Kindergarten teacher like? That is 21 years ago!!! She had salt and pepper hair and was really nice :)

8. What kind of oil do you use when you cook? All kinds - canola oil, grape seed oil..whatever it healthy!

9. If someone takes an unflattering picture of you and posts it online, do you beg them to take it down or do you laugh at yourself with everyone else? I just kinda get over it...it doesn't happen very often.

10. What brand of dishwashing soap do you use? Dawn, but my sister and I are trying to convince our mom to get anything except the blue kind.

Silly Haiku Wednesday - #3

Join the fun!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Separation

Separation is...
Really hard to dwell upon.

Glad I don't have to.

I'm still not feeling confident about these...

Pacific Sales

As part of our move, we need to buy a refrigerator because we don't exactly own one. I mean we have a super old one that is literally falling apart, but not a nice one for the house. So we wanted to buy one nice one for in the house and one cheaper one for the garage.

We decided to go check out the new Pacific Sales that opened up recently. When you walk in, they have a front counter that you should check in at. My mom went up and asked if anyone was free to help us...the girl said not until later. My mom asked when later was. The girl replied rather rudely that they won't rush their customers so she didn't know. She then said she needed to finish up phone calls (she had no phone in her hand, to her ear, etc.) and could help us after.

We left and went to Home Depot. They were great. We bought two fridges are thrilled.

Moral of the story: Go to Home Depot. Pacific Sales isn't gonna make it in this town!

Monday's Movie Mania

Shannon at The Mommy-Files is now doing Monday's Movie Mania. Given that I spent 4 years of my life working at Blockbuster, I think I might be able to play along.

One movie that I really enjoyed that probably not many people have heard of is "11:14". This movie is from 2004. It is about the events leading up to a car crash at 11:14, told from 5 different perspectives. It stars some great people such as Colin Hanks, Hilary Swank, Ben Foster, Patrick Swayze and Rachael Leigh Cook. Some parts of it are a bit graphic so if you are super easily offended, this might not be the movie for you.

Click here to view a trailer for the movie.

Quotable Sunday - #12

Toni at A Daily Dose of Toni hosts Quotable Sunday each week. This week I have decided to do quotes on hate, as I am currently the "victim" of a cyber bully who hates me for no apparent reason. This guy logs on just to harass me!!

A rattlesnake, if cornered, will become so angry it will bite itself. That is exactly what the harboring of hate and resentment against others is - a biting of oneself. We think we are harming others in holding these spites and hates, but the deeper harm is to ourselves.
-E. Stanley Jones

Hate less, live longer.
-Ivy Culler

Always remember others may hate you but those who hate you don't win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself.
-Richard M. Nixon

I will permit no man to narrow and degrade my soul by making me hate him.
-Booker T. Washington

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

Sunday Stealing 8/16

Sunday Stealing: The Blame Tara Meme

Question 1: Who do you think is the hottest movie star? Chace Crawford is pretty up there on my list right now.

Question 2: Apart from your house and your car, what is the most expensive thing you have ever bought? Probably laptop after laptop...because they all break after a few years.

Question 3: What is your most treasured memory? Oh wow, that's really hard. I think any big event where I was surrounded by friends and family :)

Question 4: What is the best gift you’ve ever received as a child? When I was 3 or 4 I got a play horse that I could ride and it went back and forth. I used to love that thing!

Question 5: What is the biggest mistake you’ve ever made? I don't think I believe in mistakes really. Everything in life is a learning experience.

Question 6: Give four words to describe yourself. Short, honest, sincere, sarcastic.

Question 7: What was your highlight or lowlight of 2008? My trips to New Orleans and then Israel were definitely my highlights of 2008.

Question 8: What was your most embarrassing moment? This is really hard, I don't generally embarrass myself badly enough to remember. I normally just say a few embarrassing things now and again.

Question 9: Tell something not generally known about yourself. I think people on my blog know better than my real life friends how much of a dog lover I am!

Question 10: If you were a comic strip/cartoon character, who would you be? Definitely Spongebob, I love him!

Saturday, August 15, 2009

Max

This is the Standard Poodle...I will get the other dog later.

Aloha Friday #14

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. Thanks to Kailani at An Island Life for starting this fun for Friday. I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog . My question is:

What was the last thing you had to drink?

I pretty much only drink water, so it is rare for me to have anything else.

Tell Me Thursday - #2

Tell Me Thursday is all about Wordless Wednesday.

We are trying to eat all of that food before we move next weekend. It feels like we have used up so much of it, yet there is still that much left. I guess we buy way too much food, huh?

Wordless Wednesday #2 - Food

Oops, I accidentally linked to this one. Click here to go to the right one.

Come back tomorrow for an explanation...and no, I am not food obsessed nor am I a food addict. But..this does have to do with moving lol

For more Wordless Wednesday, go here or here.

10 On Tuesday - Fads You Just Don't Get

10 Fads You Just Don't Get

1. William Hung (He auditioned for Americal Idol, he was terrible, he now has multiple CDs)

2. Low carb diets such as Atkins (Can it really be healthy to have a diet consisting of mostly meat and cheese?)

3. Baggy / saggy / ripped pants (These just look tacky)

4. Ant farms (This just doesn't make sense because...aren't we trying to keep ants out???)

5. Heelys (I just think these are dangerous...but that might have something to do with my lack of coordination when it comes to anything with wheels)

6. World of Warcraft (I understand the fun in online games, I don't understand things like couples breaking up and fighting over their accounts)

7. Using online slang like lol and brb in oral speech (We don't write in the same way that we speak...why would we speak in the same way that we write?)

8. Jumping Beans (These are just weird!)

9. Energy drinks (I can kind of understand one for a boost...but people who drink them tend to drink many or mix them with alcohol. Both options make people act nutty!!!)

10. Staples Easy Button (I really just don't understand this. People love it and I don't get it.)

Nothing to blog about

What do you blog about when you have nothing to blog about? It seems like most blogs I read just have something to blog about every day. I don't!

Ummmm I am really hoping to get lizards after we move. I think I want leopard geckos but bearded dragons are also a possibility.

That's about all I have for today lol

Quotable Sunday - #11

Toni at A Daily Dose of Toni hosts Quotable Sunday each week. This week I have decided to do quotes from Janice Dickinson, because well...there is nobody like her. (To those who don't know her, she claims to be the first supermodel)

As the saying goes, I want to be the best-looking corpse there is.

I break the mold. J.Lo wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for me.

I've been on the cover of every magazine in the world.

I can wrap my legs around my neck.

I lived the stuff that Jackie Collins writes about.

Packing

I really did do some packing today. Here are a few pics..this is just the beginning!

These are just a few of the boxes in the living room and of course I didn't notice I am in the reflection.
This is the massive pile of boxes in the corner of the garage :)

Small Talk Six - 6 things people do that you think are beyond lazy

MomDot hosts Small Talk Six each Saturday, with a new topic weekly. You have to respond to each topic with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 sentences, 6 paragraphs, or 6 photos.

This week's topic is - 6 things people do that you think are beyond lazy

1) Make a meeting for 1 pm and then manage to be late (Cmon, who can't be ready by 1 pm?)

2) Leave their dirty dishes in their room when they are coming into the kitchen anyway

3) Collect a pile of dirty socks where they take their socks off each day

4) Buy premade meals because they don't know how / don't want to learn to cook

5) Comment with "enter me" on a contest or comment with "cool" on a contest for who comments the most

6) Go shopping for new clothes because they don't want to wash their dirty clothes

Six Word Saturday - #9

Show my Face blog hosts Six Word Saturday each week.

Here's what you do
: Describe your life (or something) in just six words.

I unpacked, now I must pack.

We are moving in two Saturdays.

Will this madness ever be over?

Saturday 9 - #7

Saturday 9 blog posts 9 questions each week, sometimes with a theme and sometimes without.

Saturday 9: On Broadway

1. Have you ever seen a Broadway play? If yes what and when? I have never seen a play on Broadway but I did see Les Mis at its original theatre :)

2. Tell us about one strange event in your life this week. My mom and my friend's mom both thought we were dating just cuz we hang out 2-3 times a month.

3. Have you ever lied to "get the guy/gal"? The truth always comes out...no!

4. Tell us about your best friend. My best friend is probably Danny but we don't hang out so often anymore. I met him 10 years ago or so but we didn't start being friends until about 6 years ago. He's from here and goes to college here and we work together :)

5. What was the best vacation that you ever had? I went to New Orleans and Israel last summer and they were both so much fun!

6. What was the last big purchase you made? I bought my laptop about 6 months ago when my other one just quit working one day.

7. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink and when did you start drinking it? I love cranberry juice and started drinking it around 12 or so. My uncle always "joked" that I would burn a hole in my stomach and then a few years ago, I basically burned a hole through my esophagus...guess his joke wasn't so funny!

8. When was the last time someone did not believe you? Well someone told me they didn't believe me when I told them I never lied. But then they saw that it was actually true.

9. You have signed on to direct a romantic comedy. Who are your stars? Renee Zelweger and Adam Sandler.

Random request

I would love it if people would attach their email address to their blogger comments. I love replying to people who comment on my blog but can only reply if their email address is attached. For those of you who don't attach it, can I ask why? :)

Aloha Friday #13

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday. Thanks to Kailani at An Island Life for starting this fun for Friday. I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog . Please be sure to head over to her blog to say hello and sign the Mr. Linky there if you are participating.

My question is:

What toppings do you like on your pizza?

I love chicken with regular sauce, barbecue sauce, or pesto sauce. I don't really like any toppings besides chicken.

Moving

We are moving...again!

Last Sunday, we were at an event when my mom received a phone call. The landlord of the house we had put in an application for was calling to see when we could meet him at the house. We thought he wanted to meet us etc, but he really had already decided to rent to us and just wanted to explain all of the repairs he was going to do before we moved in.

This is really exciting!!! This house is bigger than the one we are in now, and is almost 20% cheaper! And...it has tons of fruit trees in the yard! And...it has a walk in pantry! (We have no pantry now) And....the linen closet is at least 2x the size of the one we have now! Can you tell I really like this house?

Now...does anyone have any advice on how I can get my sister to let me have the bedroom I like? :)

Freaks and Geeks

Have any of you ever seen the TV show Freaks and Geeks? Someone recommended it to me, but didn't really tell me anything about it. So I put it on my Netflix queue and just put in the 1st DVD last night.

Oh my goodness, it is so good. First of all, it has some great actors in it that are well known now such as James Franco and Seth Rogen. Well, I kind of only have a first of all. It is just a great show and after 2 episodes I am already really into it.

Too bad the show was only on the air for 1 season. Does anyone know why that was?

Silly Haiku Wednesday - #1

Join the fun!

The basics:

Haiku is simple! It is 3 non-rhyming lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively (a great way to use your fingers!)

This week’s theme is: Favourite Scents

Vanilla, yummy.
And what else? Freshly washed hair.

Finally, ice cream.

My verdict? Haikus really are silly.
