Cult Insanity A Memoir of Polygamy, Prophets, and Blood Atonement By Irene Spencer

As I'm sure lots of you know, I love entering giveaways - both on blogs and the corporate ones with forms hehe

Back in November, I won the book "Cult Insanity" by Irene Spencer.  Thanks to Stacie at Simply Stacie for that.

As part of my New Year's Resolutions, this is the first book that I decided to read.  I am always interested in reading about lifestyles different from my own.  I have had many Mormon friends over the years but none of them were polygamists (I don't even know if there are any polygamists in Santa Barbara).

The book dove right into the story of the author, Irene Spencer.  At first, I was a bit confused by all of the names thrown out at once, but once I was a few chapters in I had everyone straight.  Irene's story is just heart-wrenching, and you really wonder why anyone stays in a situation like that (although she does a pretty good job of explaining why).

Overall this is a really good book, and I couldn't wait to read each night to find out what happened.  I admit I stayed up too late just about every night reading.  I would definitely recommend this book, but have to warn it is hard to read at times.

Oh and for once...I kinda liked the ending!

(I figured out how to write on my photo, woohoo!)
