Tinyurl.com

As I think a lot of you know, I love entering giveaways!  As a lot of my non-online friends are very surprised about, I ask my mom for a ton of help with things online.  (Most of my friends have to do everything for their parents when it comes to technology).

So tonight, I asked her how people on twitter get those small URLs.  Sometimes twitter does it for me, but often it doesn't.  It's really hard to tweet about giveaways when the URLs to them are super long!

At first, as usual, she said she didn't know.  Then she said it was at smallurl.com  But that didn't work, so she was like, "Oh yeah, tinyurl.com"  Many laughs ensued at her switch-er-oo

So in case anyone else has been wondering how to shorten URLs, go to tinyurl.com

My mom is so smart :)

that works, and i also like is.gd (pronounced "is good" - how cute is that?)

i'm not a fan of bit.ly which is what twitter automatically uses now, because it's a libyan domain and therefore gives some kind of revenue to libya for its use. that makes me a little nervous...

p.s. i ask my dad for all things tech too!

I use TweetDeck. It automatically shortens URLs for you! And, you can watch multiple accounts at one time with it and it updates every few seconds. It's great if you're a Twitterer! lol!

I was just about to tweet asking how to get a shortened URL.
Thanks for the info!
